Community Empowerment Education (CEE)

Beyond’s support goes further than direct legal services, our staff develop and deliver Community Empowerment Education (CEE) at community partner sites and other organizations across Illinois.

We view workshops as activism – develop alternative strategies to advocate and uncover patterns & practices through legal empowerment and collective community learning in three different forms.

  • Technical Assistance: legal one-off questions received from community partners

  • CEE General: educational KYR’s & pro se application workshops

  • CEE Train the Trainer: training for staff and other professionals on various topics.

Topics range from Know Your Rights (KYRs), Family Emergency Preparedness, and other areas as requested.

Community and legal empowerment expands capacity for community partners while also creating pathways to inform community members on their rights. We provide tools and resources to navigate the justice system while pursuing lasting change from within.
